“Dopo la prima edizione del festival avvenuto nel luglio 2017 nell’Isola di Ventotene e la presentazione del progetto in/su/la eco.0 nella Galerie Parterre di Berlino 2019. IN/SU/LA si propone di creare un laboratorio di interscambio tra più culture, questa volta, oltre il confine europeo. Artisti provenienti dall’Italia, Spagna e Marocco e Argentina si confronteranno per interagire e conoscersi all’interno dell’isola stessa.”
IN/SU/LA nasce da un idea di Yvonne Andreini e Alessio Castagna. Per la sua prima edizione, nell´estate 2017, IN/SU/LA decide di essere un festival completamente effimero. Niente social media.Niente foto. Solo la presenza di sette artisti ed un critico d´arte. Per 10 giorni hanno vissuto ed esplorato l´isola, il suo territorio, i suoi limiti. Al termine della permanenza ciascun artista ha prodotto un lavoro anch’esso effimero, nell’insieme una serie di installazioni e performance dislocate in spazi diversi dell’isola durante il festival stesso.
IN/SU/LA è nata dall´impellenza di dialogare sulle necessità dell´Arte, della sua comunicazione e del ruolo che essa svolge e che dovrebbe svolgere oggi.Una riflessione e una discussione necessarie, anche per progettare la prossima edizione di IN/SU/LA. Magari non troveremo mai una forma statica, che si ripete negli anni, bensì una catena di pensieri che portano sempre a nuovi punti di vista, a nuovi obiettivi.Come un onda che consuma e cambia la roccia con il suo infrangersi ripetutamente sui confini dell´isola.
IN-TRANSIT SPECHEES
(Residenza d’arte Ventotene,Italy – Ifitry, Marocco)
Nowadays, in a situation where we can feel an increase of extremist ideas and intolerance, more than ever, to promote dialog and encounters of cultural agents is a rich and healthy medium for growing confidence and understanding each other.
Art and artists can collaborate in this, by producing poetic reflections in their works, they can share and transmit others empirically the richness of understanding the experience of “meeting the unknown”, as a possibility of expansion of consciousness and source of creation and self- evolution.
The “in-Transit speeches” project, Is an idea involving artists form Europe and Morocco taking part between 2019 and 2020, A group of artists will participate in 2 art residencies and workshops situated both in Italy and Morocco, producing site specific works and theoretic or poetic approaches of ideas as: territory, borders, periphery, south-north relations and transit.
The works (both material and theoretic) would be presented later as 2 art exhibitions, gathering the works of all the artists participating in both residencies and some related texts, These exhibitions will be hold both in Spain and Germany.
The institution hosting the project in Italy is “Insula festival”, and the location for residency is in Ventotene Island.
And in Morocco, the institution hosting the project is Ifitry artist residence in Essaouira, Morocco.
The artists works will be expanding the physical space of the locations (both of them facing the sea, and isolated from big urban centers), with the imaginative space of their artistic practice, promoting a dialog in both senses: North/south, Africa/Europe, Nature/human, etc…

Daniel Tejero Olivares y Elena Battaglia Grunder – Spain, Switzerland
With Border positions (series of peripheral memories)
They develop an artistic project that seeks to value the peripheral communities.
It is developed in several locations in Europe and Latin America as a work in progress, which studies sociological and ethnographic profiles through interviews, photographs and videos to inhabitants of different social and generational profiles, all of them born or residents in each locality to then study the existing parallels.
We understand this artistic project as something open and in the process of constant construction, which will always be based on an interdisciplinary collaboration that vindicates that peripheral memory and interrogates social constructions, beyond territories or borders.
Daniel Pablo Tejero Olivares, was born in Granada.
Doctor of Fine Arts from the UPV, Full Professor of the University, Faculty of BB. AA. De Altea, UMH.Director of the Art Department; Director of the Institutional Chair Anneta Nicoli; Director of the Fidex Consolidated Research Group; Member of the Governing Council and Deputy Director of the Master’s Degree in Projects and Research in Art as well as the Master’s Degree in Project and Research in Art at the Miguel Hernández University. His work is exhibited regularly in exhibitions in Europe and America.
Elia Torrecilla – Spain
Elia Torrecilla, was born in Vigo, Spain, develops an interdisciplinary artistic project focused on the activity of the walk in all its forms; a practice to become aware of space and feel part of the urban whole through the body, therefore, his work approaches the field of performance. His works are an exploration of our relationship with the environment; she combines her activity as an artist and researcher and in her production she overlaps and combines practical and theoretical research as part of her life experience. She holds a Doctorate in Art: Production and Research from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Polytechnic University of Valencia, a work she has developed over the last four years within the research group Intermediate Creation Laboratory of the Department of Sculpture of the UPV Valencia. participating in various R + D Research projects
From 2012 to the present it has been showing the work developed, in various exhibitions and artistic events, both national and international,
Cristina Ghetti – Argentina
Cristina Ghetti is an Argentine artist living in Valencia, Spain. The visual art tendencies based in geometric abstraction orient conceptual and formally the art work she is developing since some years ago. Her production had been mostly centered in painting and instalation, recently she began to incorporate new media in her work believing that it can emphasize concepts as inmersive spaces, synestesia, interactivity and participation , analizing how these carachteristics can enrich the conceptual dimentions of the art work. She has a Master of visual arts and multimedia at the UPV, Polythecnic University Valencia, Spain,
She also undertakes curatorial projects and works in No(Dos)3 group, a multidisciplinary performance and new media group.
Her work is shown worldwide in artshows and art fairs, and is present in museum collections in latin America, Usa ans Europe.
Martin Reyna – France
Martin Reyna’s paintings embody and expand upon the artist’s ongoing exploration of landscape, architecture, and light. His brightly colored inks are spread and diluted through dynamic and careful gestures that create a sense of control and freedom all at once. Through meticulous drips and pours, Reyna controls the brush strokes to create a convergence of other-worldly space. The vibrant colors shimmer and create a dichotomy of spatial perspective that becomes especially evident through his diptych and polyptych works
He has been the subject of many solo and group exhibitions internationally, including at the Teodora Gallery in Paris, Artemisa Gallery in New York, Knokke-Zoute Gallery in Belgium, amongst others. Reyna has been the recipient of several awards, including the Chandon Prize at ARTEBA in Argentina; Grant of Arts from Antorchas Foundation in Buenos Aires; Jean-Francois Millet Prize for Painting from SIAP in France; Costantini Prize from MNBA Buenos Aires; Nuevo Mundo Foundation Prize; and Gunther Prize for Painting from CAYC in Buenos Aires.
Khadiya Tnana – Morocco
Born in Tetuan, Morocco, professor at the faculty of law of Fez, former deputy major of Fez City In charge of culture, president of the Forum of womens creativity association.
She participated in several national and international group exhibitions, her works involves different media as a visual artist but also as a writer and activist . Khadija Tnana joins the figurative expressionist movement. His paintings deal with the problem of women. The theme of the body is recurrent in her, dominated by the sexual, the erotic. His memory is marked by the scenes of hammam, crossed by big or lean bodies, heavy, tired or agile. It also addresses the theme of death, clandestine emigration (represents emigrants drowned in the Mediterranean, crowded faces, eyes and gaping mouths), the Intifada. But it is always the body, the principal subject ofher researches
-Swarm-
Esplorare il territorio comune per soddisfare il bisogno di comunità, di ambiente condiviso, di uguaglianza e partecipazione; questa l’urgenza da cui prende vita il progetto “Swarm”.
“Swarm” mira a promuovere l’interazione tra linguaggi differenti aventi come canale di espressione comune il corpo. Un ensemble di danzatori e di cantanti saranno impegnati nell’investigazione di territori e linguaggi apparentemente lontani, tentando di individuarne vicendevolmente i confini, esplorarli ed eliminarli.L’eterogeneità dei linguaggi e delle identità di ognuno sono vissute come risorse e non come ostacolo e Swarm rappresenterà un luogo in cui poter accogliere le diversità per viverle piuttosto come peculiarità da nutrire e condividere con il resto del gruppo.
Metteremo insieme corpi e voci per la realizzazione di un progetto site specific, in luoghi che vedono nella comunità una risorsa vitale e necessaria. Si vuole evidenziare il concetto di azione e relazione in un gruppo che trova la sua forza nell’unione e dove ogni individuo rinuncia alla propria affermazione per disegnare lo spazio con l’altro.
L’intento del progetto è quindi quello di lavorare sul territorio e per il territorio.
Per questo la scelta di realizzare questo progetto a Ventotene nell’ambito di IN/SU/LA. Il festival che ha come obiettivo quello di riscoprire il territorio attraverso l’arte contemporanea sposa esattamente la ricerca proposta da Swarm. La danza contemporanea ed il canto cercano un nuovo territorio dove esprimersi sincronicamente e l’isola diventa il territorio dove esplorare nuove forme corporee e sonore. Dove giustificare nuovamente l’espressione artistica di uno “stormo” che cerca di sottolineare quanto l’integrazione e l’interazione siano fondamentali nella pratica sociale. Interazione che non si esaurisce tra gli artisti di Swarm ma esperisce il contatto con la popolazione locale, tramite il workshop CorpoSonoro, dove alcuni elementi di Swarm lavoreranno con gli abitanti di Ventotene.
Workshop CorpoSonoro
Elena Paparusso e Mariagiovanna Esposito
CorpoSonoro è un Workshop che si svolgerà sull’Isola di Ventotene dal 12 al 14 Maggio. Verranno proposte attività rivolte agli abitanti dell’isola che avranno così la possibilità di integrarsi nel lavoro del progetto Swarm, divenendo parte attiva della ricerca. Sono previsti, quindi, momenti di interazione di diversa natura rivolti a persone di ogni età che avranno voglia di sperimentare attraverso il movimento e il suono della voce. Tramite gli incontri laboratoriali si permetterà agli abitanti dell’isola di esperire con e sul proprio corpo alcune pratiche che integrano le due differenti forme espressive della danza e del canto. Il lavoro proposto sarà calibrato e adattato alle esigenze dei partecipanti e avrà come focus principale il concetto di “ascolto di gruppo” e tutte le tematiche che quest’ultimo porta con sé (apertura, disponibilità, percezione, conoscenza, condivisione, scelte comuni etc.).
